Presnel Kimpembe showed fans the full extent of his ruptured Achilles tendon injury.
Kimpembe has endured a dismal spell on the sidelines. The France and Paris Saint-Germain defender spent months recovering from an Achilles issue, returning to the fold for his club back in November.
However, the 28-year-old appeared to have been rushed back too soon, and went on to undergo surgery on his Achilles Tendon in early January.
Despite having been restricted to just four appearances in all competitions all season, Kimpembe shared a series of pictures to mark PSG’s Ligue 1 title.
He captioned the Instagram post by saying: “One more trophy and a 50th in [PSG’s] history. [It’s been] a difficult season but one filled with personal growth. There is still one more trophy to win together.
“‘All obstacles reinforce one’s determination.’ Thank you all for your unwavering support. Ici c’est Paris.”
Among the snaps was a picture of the back of his foot, marked by heavy stitching, which has caused a stir on social media.
One person on X said: “Presnel Kimpembe shows the reality of his most recent injury… He suffered an Achilles tendon rupture which has kept him out of action for 400+ days. The photo is the back of his foot all stitched up. Sending strength to him.’
Another wrote: “Athletes need to be more appreciated.”
A third said: “Santi Cazorla came back from it after 2 years, he’ll be back stronger.”
A fourth added: “Looking at it makes me lightheaded. Respect to him.”
A fifth said: “One of the worst injuries in the game, if not the worst.”
A sixth wrote: It’s crazy… I can’t imagine the pain he will feel when the anaesthesia wears off from his body. You don’t want to be on a surgical bed, it’s an unexplainable pain.
Footballers make it look like it’s nothing when they return from surgeries, hey, it’s crazy! Quick healing to him!”
