Benjamin Pavard left FC Bayern for Inter Milan in the summer of 2023. The Frenchman does not seem to regret this move.
Bayern tried for a long time to extend Benjamin Pavard’s expiring contract. Without success. The defender was looking for a new sporting challenge and decided against staying in Munich.
According to his own statements, he does not regret this move: „I have found a marvellous country where the fans are incredible and where it is fun to play. It’s pure happiness,“ enthused Pavard in an interview with French TV station Telefoot when asked about his move from FC Bayern to Inter Milan.
The defensive all-rounder has signed a long-term contract in Italy until 2028 and wants to fulfil it: „I can imagine staying in Milan for many years.“
Pavard can play permanently in the centre of defence at Inter
It is an open secret that Pavard was not satisfied with his role at the German record champions. The 27-year-old is versatile in defence, but usually had to play at right-back at FCB. A position where he no longer saw himself: „I left Bayern to play as a centre-back. I’m at Inter and have the chance to play in this role for France,“ he revealed.
At Bayern, Pavard was only allowed to help out as a substitute centre-back. At Inter, the 2018 world champion has immediately established himself as a regular and key player in central defence.
