Inter Milan defender Benjamin Pavard could put an end to his career with France after a forgettable EURO 2024 campaign.

At the age of 28, the former Stuttgart and Bayern Munich man remains relatively young.

However, he is no longer enjoying his status in the French national team.

Pavard was a key figure for Didier Deschamps’ side in the triumphant 2018 World Cup campaign. He also played an important role for Les Bleus in Qatar 2022.

However, the versatile defender didn’t make a single appearance in EURO 2024. Deschamps preferred to rely on the services of Jules Kounde at right-back, while Dayot Upamecano and William Saliba played at the heart of the defense.

So according to L’Equipe via FcInter1908, Pavard is now contemplating international retirement.

He will take the next few weeks to reflect on the matter while on holiday before joining Inter’s pre-season camp.

The source adds that the Nerazzurri star is also losing his closest friends in the national team, like Hugo Lloris and Olivier Giroud. This could be an additional motive to consider ending his international career.

Moreover, Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann and Bayern Munich winger Kingsley Coman could also make a similar call.

Inter Milan Star Benjamin Pavard Could End His Time With France

Pavard represented the senior French national team on 54 occasions. He scored five goals in the process, with his most famous coming in the epic battle against Argentina in the Round of 16 of Russia 2018.

The defender joined Inter last summer and immediately cemented himself as a pillar in Simone Inzaghi’s three-man defense. He won the Serie A title and the Italian Super Cup in his maiden campaign in Italy.

Pavard’s contract with the Italian giants is valid until June 2028.
