Adrien Rabiot (29) will be suspended for Les Bleus’ Euro 2024 quarter-final clash against Portugal after receiving two yellow cards in the tournament, the latter coming against Belgium. L’Équipe understands that he will be replaced by Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga (21).
Whilst France struggled to break down Belgium, Didier Deschamps looks set to opt for the same attack against Portgual, deploying Antoine Griezmann in an unfamiliar role on the right wing. Marcus Thuram, who has struggled to carry his club form into the competition, will start through the middle and the masked Kylian Mbappé in his familiar position on the left.
However, the major question was who would replace Rabiot. It has been a race between Camavinga and AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana. It looks like the former will start against Portugal, according to L’Équipe. Thus far, the Real Madrid midfielder has been restricted to appearances from the bench, accumulating 48 minutes of playing time in his two substitute appearances.
