The left side of defence is one of the biggest construction sites in the current Bayern squad. This is mainly due to the uncertain future of Alphonso Davies. As has now become known, Munich are already actively working in the background to sign Theo Hernandez.
FC Bayern have been linked with the signing of Theo Hernandez for some time now. According to Sky, the 26-year-old Frenchman is at the top of Munich’s wish list should Alphonso Davies leave the club early in the summer.
According to the French sports daily L’Equipe, Bayern have already been active in the background in recent weeks in order to finalise a deal in the summer. In plain language: FCB is getting into position.
Hernandez wants to leave Milan
Interestingly, according to L’Equipe, Hernandez wants to leave AC Milan in the summer, even though he is still contractually tied to the Rossoneri until 2026. However, Milan do not want to know anything about this. Those in charge have repeatedly emphasised that they will not be letting go of any key players: „Theo Hernandez, Rafa Leao and Mike Maignan are happy to stay at Milan. They all have long-term contracts here,“ emphasised Milan’s CEO Giorgio Furlani recently. The club is also not financially dependent on sales: „We don’t need to sell any players in the summer. We can also invest without selling a top player.“
However, should Hernandez push for a move, the German record champions would have to dig deep into their pockets for the left-back. According to the report, the financial pain threshold for the French international is just under 80 million euros. That would mean Hernandez would cost as much as his older brother Lucas Hernandez, who moved to Munich for exactly the same amount in the summer of 2019. This would make Hernandez one of the most expensive transfers in the club’s history. The full-back’s current market value is estimated at €60 million by Transfermarkt.
