Arsenal are still to secure any new signings this summer but Mikel Arteta can solve a key issue after hearing the star Bayern Munich have now put on the transfer market.
Endless names have been linked with a transfer to Arsenal this year as Arteta strives to build a side able to win the Premier League. The Gunners missed out on their first title in 20 years last season by only two points. Arteta even sees scope to improve his squad across the park.
But the only done deal in north London so far this summer came as Arsenal confirmed David Raya had sealed a permanent transfer from Brentford. The Euro 2024 winner spent last term on loan in N5 and even won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award with 16 clean sheets.

Mikel Arteta needs Arsenal to sign top-tier cover for Bukayo Saka
Goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and forwards have all featured on Arteta’s shopping list at Emirates Stadium. He is refusing to rest on the Spaniard’s laurels despite Arsenal scoring a club-record 91 goals and having their best defence in 20 years with only 29 goals allowed.
New attacking options are in high demand in N5 as Arteta strives to sign a better back-up for Bukayo Saka. The Gunners’ lack of depth on the wing was a key issue during 2023/24 as the 22-year-old featured in 47 and even started in 46 of their 52 fixtures across all competitions.

Arteta sporadically leaned on Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and even more seldomly Reiss Nelson to cover for Saka. But Arsenal can now solve their issue as Bayern Munich have made Kingsley Coman available to find a transfer after signing Michael Olise from Crystal Palace.
Bayern Munich put Kingsley Coman on the transfer market for £42m
That is according to Bild, which reports that Bayern Munich are keen to sell Coman for €50m (£42m) after paying €51m (£43m) for Olise. Paris Saint-Germain are also showing interest in signing the 28-year-old who Hansi Flick once suggested ‘radiates a goal threat and assists’.
Bild also rates Coman’s chances of leaving the Bundesliga club at 80 per cent, which Arsenal should make 100%. The 2019/20 Champions League winner with Der FCB can solve Arteta’s problems by giving the Spaniard an elite threat capable of pushing Saka and even Martinelli.

But an injury-hit season last term and the arrival of Olise has put his place at risk. Coman only played in 17 and started 15 of a possible 18 Bundesliga games.
It marked his fewest appearances in a German top-flight campaign through nine seasons, in which Coman won the Bundesliga title eight times. Arsenal capitalising on Bayern Munich’s stance could see Coman add a Premier League title to his two Ligue 1 and two Serie A titles.
His time in the first-team as an academy graduate at Paris Saint-Germain and later stints at Juventus and Bayern Munich have made Coman a champion in France, Italy and Germany. Coman’s winning pedigree may be enough to help Arteta push Arsenal over the finish line.
