Real Madrid unveil a host of new shirt numbers: Kylian Mbappe, Arda Güler, Eduardo Camavinga and more
Ahead of the upcoming La Liga season, Real Madrid have been making plenty of changes to their squad, headlined by the marquee signing of Kylian Mbappe from PSG.
And with big changes at the club both on and off the pitch, there are also changes to the numbers which can be found on many of their star players’ shirts.
The club made an announcement on their website and socials on Wednesday afternoon, detailing the changes and what we can look out for when La Liga kicks off in August.
The biggest news is that Kylian Mbappe will be wearing the number ‘9’ for Los Blancos next season, following in the footsteps of legends like Karim Benzema to lead the line at the Santiago Bernabéu.
The two other biggest changes come with Eduardo Camavinga being assigned the number ‘6’ and Federico Valverde being assigned the number ‘8’ shirt.
Elsewhere, Aurélien Tchouaméni will wear the number ’14’, Turkish wonderkid Arda Güler will wear the number ’15’, and Jesús Vallejo will wear the number ’18’ for Real Madrid next season.
One notable absentee from the list is 17-year-old Brazilian prospect Endrick, who doesn’t need to be assigned a number until he turns 18.
