In recent weeks, AC Milan have stepped up their pursuit of Youssouf Fofana, and a report from this morning has claimed that if the Rossoneri are successful in their attempts, they have their French stars to thank.
With Paulo Fonseca aiming to strengthen his midfield, literally and metaphorically, Fofana has been on a non-stop rise in popularity among the management, and now, it seems it will be a case of when, not if, he signs a contract at Milan.
A deal has not been completed yet, but this is due to the Frenchman’s time at the Euros, following the Blues’ elimination, the road is now open for the Rossoneri to make their move.
However, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), the Diavolo have his time in Germany to thank if he joins the club, with the paper suggesting that Theo Hernandez and Mike Maignan have been massively influential in the move.
The paper states that his time together with the Milan duo has been pivotal, and he wants to continue playing with them after they have enticed him about the Paulo Fonseca project whilst on international duty.
Of course, this does not mean a deal is complete, but with the figures drawn up, it seems that the signing could be finalised in the weeks to come.
