Real Madrid vs FC Barcelona. There is perhaps no other fixture which transcends the boundary of sport more than this one. Football fan or not, everyone has an opinion on the game. Rightly so, since this rivalry has had all the best players, managers, and the highest stakes attached to it historically. Even the El Clasico head-to-head record is competitive which means it has been a hotly contested rivalry as well.

Here is the Real Madrid vs Barcelona head-to-head record as the rivals prepare to face each other again in the Supercup

El Clasico Head-to-Head

In total, the two teams have met each other 255 times, with the Supercup meeting marking the 256th El Clasico.

In those 255 meetings, the record is extremely competitive, with Los Blancos winning 103 games to Barcelona’s 100. 52 draws make up the full quota as Real Madrid’s historical dominance of the fixture has been slowly covered up by Barcelona dominating the late 2000s till the mid-2010s.

The interesting thing to note about it is that each team has had phases even before that. While Real Madrid were winning everything in sight in the 1950s and the 1960s, Barcelona came back strong with Johan Cruyff’s era. Similarly, Galacticos were balanced by Pep Guardiola’s all-conquering side.

Only currently it can be said that there is no outright favourite between these two teams, although Xavi’s side have been struggling a fair bit while Real Madrid are on the ascendancy in the league at least.

It makes Real Madrid the favourite tomorrow but not in a way that Barcelona have no chance at all, which has been the case in some Clasicos which end up with battering and far-reaching consequences for the other club on the losing side.

When breaking it down into competitions, Real Madrid have dominated the game in Supercup, winning 9 times out of 16 occasions, with Barcelona winning just five. Ancelotti’s men will be aiming for their 10th now.

The only competition which has been dominated by Barcelona is the Copa del Rey, where they have won 16 and lost 13 in a total of 37 games.

Otherwise, it’s all Real Madrid in every competition and with the way the two teams are trending right now, the gap could become bigger by the full-time whistle in the Supercopa de Espana.
