Barcelona star Sergio Busquets is primed to etch his name indellibly into the history books of Spanish football on Thursday evening.
Busquets, along with the rest of Xavi Hernandez’s squad, are of course set to return to action in short order.
In the first of three upcoming meetings with their fiercest rivals over the coming month, Barca have made the trip to Spain’s capital, to lock horns with Clasico rivals Real Madrid.
The Blaugrana will be forced to make do without the services of a number of key performers for the clash, with all of Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Pedri ruled out through injury.
One member of Xavi’s ranks who will feature from the off, though, comes in the form of veteran midfielder Sergio Busquets.
And, in taking to the Bernabeu pitch, the iconic Spanish international is set to secure for himself an altogether noteworthy record.
This comes as Busquets prepares to break his tie with former teammate Lionel Messi, and Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, as the player with the most appearances in the history of El Clasico:
